The City Dress Tel Aviv street exposition was an event that aimed to bring art to the city’s streets. We were selected, together with 30 other Israeli designers, to contribute to the project with a unique design.
NotFromHere teamed up with the fashion designer Michal Romem for the project and we worked together to create something more than a dress, a piece of art that would reflect the nature of the city of Tel Aviv.
The dress incorporates a random selection of Instagram photos that were tagged with #TelAviv. This simple concept in many ways represents the core of all our projects; the aim is not just to have our art exhibited on the street, but also to have the city and street echoed in our art.
The aim of the exposition was to bring art out from museums and into the streets. We were told to create an outfit out of any material as long as it was not fabric. We chose to use wood free paper as it felt like a combination of the two worlds of design and fashion.
The final project was displayed in the window of a fashion shop in Tel Aviv.
